Needs analysis

Start off by assessing your students' needs and interest through a needs analysis. This will help you understand their language needs, goals, and interests, where their knowledge gaps are, and what situations they face that they find demanding. You can ask them to draw a pie chart of how much speaking, listening, reading and writing, grammar and vocab they would like to do. You could use a tool such as Google forms or Aweform questionnaires to give visual as well as detailed qualitative feedback. This sort of software will summarise the findings and you can also use the same template again and again.
